In order to prevent chimneys from deteriorating they need to be correctly maintained. The bricks and cement mortar, stonework and lead flashing will inevitably decay over time, so it is very important to maintain them and keep them in good order.

Should you fail to maintain your chimney correctly, and the mortar is left to crumble or crack it could lead to the cement render falling or even the entire chimney collapsing. This can then create costly damage to your property and can even be a risk to you, to your family or even people walking past your house.
